UTILIZING THE SOUND SPACE
Imagine the "Sound Space" as a room in a house~ Jam Sessions are tricky scenarios because you have a lot of people that show up and then the house can get really crowded to the point where things are very uncomfortable and one doesn't even have space to breathe. The natural tendency of the ego is to inflate ones presence and try to fill the entire space (to get all the attention?); but then this doesn't leave much room for anyone else to shine.
Good music is not just about filling the space completely; rather it's about colouring the space with your vibes and leaving enough space for others to be able to flow in and out organically and still be heard. Listen close to really well produced music ~ you can always tune in to each individual instrument if you pay close enough attention.
To me, the best Music is an organically flowing journey that gently picks you up~ builds into crescendo~ and then gently sets you back down~ like a sinusoidal wave pattern~ rinse and repeat ad infinitum. Abrupt stops and starts are very jarring for the mind; these things are generally used when you want to grab peoples attention but it also initiates the fight or flight response when the environment changes so suddenly and drastically. Think of pop music videos as a good example? Super fast cuts and transitions to try and maintain the attention of the viewer: these days attention is a hard thing to earn because we are overstimulated with "fast cuts" and many people don't have the patience to sit through a full anything (I've been there many times...).
My most meaningful experiences of Art have been when I've honoured the journey and the effort that other beings have put into creating something beautiful for me to ingest~ this is a meditation in and of itself~ to not be distracted~ to experience something fully!
Through this awareness the Beauty will reveal itself to you in a much more intimate and meaningful way~
So please enjoy
all of these
